WISE WORDS FROM THE KITCHEN
Buy Lactose Free Milk – MUCH longer use time before it expires
Shred your own cheese – the results are well worth it. (Bagged cheese has anti-clumping agents in it.)
To bake crispy bacon in the oven, place a sheet of aluminum foil on your broiler pan, then a sheet of parchment paper, and add bacon. Bake in a pre-heated 350-degree oven for 20-25 minutes. NO MESS
If you cook bone-in, skin-on chicken or use rotisserie chicken, put the bones in a baggie in the freezer and add to it over time. Use to make broth.
Use chicken bouillon to cook rice. Store cooled rice in the refrigerator overnight. This lowers the glycemic index of the rice, and rice the second day is great, especially for fried rice or for stir fry. Rice keeps in the refrigerator for several days, so cook a good amount and use it for several dishes.
Store your bread in the freezer. Take out as needed, and pop into the toaster for a few seconds. It will always taste fresh, and no waste.
